The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, has launched an exciting new mobile phone app to build awareness of Guide Dogs and participation in go walkies.
The 'go walkies for Guide Dogs' app offers help and advice to dog owners digitally, showing them new and interesting routes for walking their dogs and providing information on local go walkies events. People can also use GPS to log and share their own walks and get weekly dog care tips from celebrity vet Marc Abraham.
For serious dog-lovers there is also a doggie picture gallery where users are able to view cute dog pictures as well as make their own dog famous by uploading images showcasing its canine antics.

The go walkies project is a series of sponsored dog walks, where the dogs get sponsored to take part. The events are fun and flexible: they can be organised by anyone, at any time of year, take place anywhere and cover any distance. There is no minimum fundraising requirement.
Guide Dogs campaigns for blind and partially sighted people to have the same freedom of movement as everyone else, helping them gain the skills they need to get around. The service receives no government funding and depends entirely on public support.
